Historical Commission approves schoolhouse opening for July 4th, moves forward on historic register.

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Historical Commission unanimously approved opening the Pike Schoolhouse for July 4, 2026, and voted to compile Pike School History for the town website. Chair Connie Hellwig and the four-member commission received their first draft of a National Register of Historic Places application and provided revisions; a second draft is expected. Window replacement work advanced with three south-side windows removed and boarded pending new installation by July 4.
The commission received donations of framed Pike School photographs, a 20-by-30-inch Webster print to be housed at Pike School, and an anonymous 19th-century slate board.
