Salisbury selectmen approve two new hospitality licenses and clear restaurant expansion. The Board unanimously licensed Nonnie's Coffee House at 114 Elm Street and approved an altered premises application for the Hungry Traveler at 98 Beach Road, adding outdoor seating for approximately 40 patrons with light acoustic entertainment. Selectman Michael Colburn stressed the need to balance business operations with neighborhood peace, and the Board extracted commitments from owner Kevin Moury to use heavy barriers (chained cones and wheeled flower boxes) to protect parking spaces and limit entertainment to acoustic performances with no loud music.
Fire Chief Scott Carrigan reported year-to-date call volume up roughly 10 percent, with 71 multi-call incidents already recorded--far exceeding the prior year--and staffing frequently at three firefighters, limiting the Department's ability to respond to simultaneous emergencies.
